Marcel the Monkey – Chapter 1

Characters:

• Marcel – A monkey that is known as the Indonesian Rainforest’s strongest agent. He prefers to drive his Audi R8 Spyder over climbing trees and swinging on vines. 

• King Francis – The King of the Indonesian Rainforests. He has conquered many lands and always has the safety of his kingdom in his mind. Although he does not like Marcel’s antics, he understands how important having someone like Marcel on his side is.

Storyline:

SCENE 1

Indonesia, Rainforest, Morning

The Indonesian rainforests are known for their vibrant aesthetics and beautiful wildlife. They are also known to be extremely diverse, and are home to thousands of species. Not only that, each individual animal is diverse in their own way!

MARCEL

WOO-HOO! (driving through the forest)

Ah yes, the perfect example. This is Marcel, a monkey that prefers to drive his Audi R8 Spyder over swinging on vines to get to places. His peers often look down on his behaviour as strange and erratic.

RANDOM MONKEY #1

There goes Marcel again.

RANDOM MONKEY #2

When will he ever be normal like the rest of us?

Marcel is on his way to meet King Francis, a fellow monkey who is also ruler of the Indonesian rainforests. King Francis has called Marcel for a very important mission. Even though Marcel is very unique in comparison to his peers, he is also King Francis’ strongest agent, having accomplished the mightiest achievements for his kingdom.

MARCEL

Nothing beats driving some kool karz on the way to meet the almighty king!

Marcel pulls over at Francis’ kingdom. He gets out of his car and walks towards the entrance before opening the door. He looks around and observes his surroundings. The royal colours of the interior of the throne room bring a sense of royalty towards those who enter. He then walks towards the throne as he sees Francis sitting on it, patiently waiting to speak to his most talented subordinate.

KING FRANCIS

Marcel, you are late my friend. I would expect someone who chooses a vehicle over his natural abilities to get to places faster.

MARCEL

Well, you should lower your expectations. But then again, I am your greatest asset.

KING FRANCIS

Although I hate to admit it, what you are saying is true. Which is why I am assigning you this top-secret mission.

MARCEL

What is it?

KING FRANCIS

Our kingdom is running out of food Marcel. The supply gained from our last conquest is going to be finished soon.

MARCEL

Wait, so no more bananas?

KING FRANCIS

Yes, no more bananas. But fear not. I have information about an oil lamp located in a magical temple not far from here. The oil lamp is said to contain a genie that will grant unlimited wishes to whoever finds it. I need you to retrieve that lamp and bring it back to me so that we can have an unlimited supply of resources.

MARCEL

Hmmmm, unlimited bananas would be amazing.

KING FRANCIS

Take this map with you, it has the coordinates to the temple. Good luck agent.

Marcel takes the map before leaving the kingdom. He starts his car and begins making his way toward the temple.
